Sometimes, a property can be too much to handle. When our plans align with yours, the Land Bank will accept your property as a donation or as a deed in lieu of tax foreclosure, giving it a chance to have a brighter future and giving you peace of mind that something good will happen.
Our Basic Expectations
Donating or deeding a property to the Land Bank is a great way to take the next step on something you no longer wish to own and maintain. The Land Bank does not accept every donation or deed in lieu request we receive, but we promise to give all of them a fair review.
The first step is to tell us about the property by completing our Donation/Deed-in-lieu Application. On this simple form and leave good contact information so we can reach back out.
Our team will reach out to you to schedule an inspection of the property. We want to know more about its condition and how we might be able to make it productive again if the Land Bank becomes the owner.
Donation: Due to the Land Bank’s 501(c) (3) non-profit status, owner(s) of the above described property who donate said property to the County’s Land Reutilization Corporation, per Section 5722.10 of the Ohio Revised Code, may be able to claim donation as tax deductible. Please seek advice of tax accountant.
If the above described property is conveyed to the Richland County Land Bank, deed in lieu of tax foreclosure pursuant to Section 5722.10 of the Ohio Revised Code, upon transfer of a free and clear title to the property, all delinquent real estate taxes and assessments shall be abated.
Richland County Land Bank can only accept property under the following conditions: The property is free of any judgment liens or other encumbrances, which may include but are not limited to mortgages, mechanic’s liens and/or state-federal income tax liens.
